Olivia Newton-John’s Car-Ride Karaoke Session with Daughter Proves They Take On Breast Cancer & Addiction As a Team

Chloe, 34, shared a video of Newton-John driving Chloe to the dentist’s office, but decided to make the commute a bit more enjoyable by busting out in song. The pair sang “on the way to the dentist,” throughout the video, and even though it’s unlikely to become a number one hit, their harmonies were beautiful.

Chloe and Newton-John have been spending some quality time together since being separated for over three months due to COVID-19, but in August the mother-daughter duo finally reunited at Newton-John’s home in Malibu. Since Newton-John has been battling stage 4 breast cancer since 2018, and is higher risk of health issues if exposed to the virus, it’s important the two women take extra safety precautions (while having a little fun of course).

Chloe has been one of her mother’s biggest cheerleaders during her cancer journey, and Newton-John has been a huge support system for her daughter as well. Chloe has been honest about her battle with substance abuse issues in the past, and says though it’s a struggle everyday, seeing her mother fight through cancer has made her stronger. Clearly, these two take on challenges as a team.

Navigating Stage 4 Breast Cancer

Stage 4 breast cancer, also known as advanced or metastatic, means that the cancer has spread to other parts of the body. While the diagnosis may sound scary, experts reassure the SurvivorNet community that even though the disease is not “curable,” there are still treatment options available to make sure you make new memories in the future.

“What’s really so special about where we are in treating breast cancer is that women can do very well for very long periods of time,” Dr. Elizabeth Comen, a medical oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, tells SurvivorNet.

It’s important to talk about treatment options with your physician, because they can decide which route may be the best for your particular diagnosis. Options typically include hormone therapy, chemotherapy and targeted drugs. However, for some women, radiation or surgery may be considered and clinical trials have shown promising results for late stage diagnosis who haven’t responded to prior treatment.
