Billy Baldwin, whose son, Vance, was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 — and is now cancer free — knows this well. And he now shares that among those who reached out to offer support was Cindy Crawford, the entrepreneur and former super model, who has had her own experience with cancer.

But the touching response from Baldwin, whose been friends with Crawford since the ’80s, and who co-starred with her in 1995’s “Fair Game,” showed the depth of her concern, and how such support touches others:
“Cindy… I remember talking to you about the passing of your brother Jeff when we first met. I know that it had a profound impact on you and your entire family,” Baldwin wrote. “Thanks for being there for us when Vance was battling it last year. Your support meant the world to me. ♥︔
The ‘Untold Story’ of Cancer Treatment
Crawford’s post was connected to the Give Blood to Give Time campaign, a first-ever partnership between the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. “So many cancer patients undergoing treatment, they need blood,” Crawford notes, adding, “being able to shine a light on these kind of causes is my way of remembering Jeff.
“I love this campaign so much,” Crawford told InStyle. “This is something simple that pretty much anyone can do. Let's say a friend's mother gets diagnosed with cancer, and you're like, 'What can I do?' You can give blood."
“My mother really showed me the way,” Crawford adds, explaining her lifelong support of cancer causes. “She allowed herself to grieve" Crawford says, then she organized a dance marathon to raise money for other families experiencing cancer. "That was very impactful to me because it showed me there's something you can do with this grief, something that's a good thing."
